Special Opportunities Just for Students & YPs

This year, we have activities tailored just for students and those starting out in their careers. Our Conference is a great opportunity for Environmental Health students and young professionals to network, learn and advance their career. You won’t want to miss these special opportunities:

Present Your Research

Students can participate in a student poster session by submitting a poster that displays their research, interest or area of study. Both networking and the poster sessions offer students the opportunity to interact with professionals and have facetime with those most important in the industry. Poster submissions are due by June 1st, 2017.

Examples of posters from the 2016 AEC included:

  • Airborne Particulates Around Frac-Sand Plants Using EPA-Certified Instrument
  • Evaluating the Barrier Sprays for Mosquito Control in Eastern North Carolina
  • Residual Soil Lead (Pb) in an Urban, Residential Neighborhood in West dallas Affected by Historic Pb Smelter Activities
  • Identification of La Crosse, Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika Vectors Collected from sticky Traps using Morphological and Molecular Methods
  • Examining the Use of Third Party Standards in Municipal Drinking Water System Plumbing Component Regulations and Recommendations

Network

  • Career Center: This year for the first time, NEHA will be hosting a Career Center to give students and young professionals the opportunity to network formally with leaders in the environmental field. Students will learn from environmental health professionals with diverse backgrounds in working at the local, state, tribal and federal levels as well as representatives from industry, academia and non-profit.
  • Exhibition Grand Opening & Party: Not only will students young professionals be able to connect with other peers and potential mentors, but they will have a chance to meet NEHA staff and see the many directions environmental health can take them. Monday, 6:00-8:00 PM
  • Brew, Blues & BBQ Social: It’s time to have some fun as we change the format of the traditional President’s Banquet to a final night celebration of music, food, dancing, and mingling! Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 PM
