NEHA partnered with CDC Tracking on the GREAT Programs Webinar (Graduate Students Enhancing the Activities of Tracking). The webinar highlights two CDC grantee tracking internship programs at the New York State Department of Health and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. During the first part of this webinar, Neil Muscatiello discusses the internship program with the New York State Department of Health, including information on relationships with schools of public health and best practices for great student experiences. During the second part of the webinar, Christy Vogt and Jennifer Camponeschi talk about the Wisconsin Environmental Public Health Tracking Internship Program and follow its evolution into a funded program with promotional materials.

Presenters:

Neil Muscatiello, Section Chief, Environmental Surveillance Section of the Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology, New York State Department of Health
Neil has worked at the New York State Department of Health since 2002 and is currently chief of the Environmental Surveillance Section of the Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology.  He is the Program Manager and a Co-Investigator on the New York State Environmental Public Health Tracking grant.  His work focuses on using existing data sources to develop environmental health-related indicators, and developing resources designed to assist in increasing knowledge and awareness about links between the environment and health.  Previously, he assisted in the Department’s emergency preparedness efforts and participated in studies of school indoor environmental quality.

Christy Vogt, Communications and Education Coordination, Wisconsin Environmental Public Health Tracking Program at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services
Christy Vogt is the Communications and Education Coordinator for the Wisconsin Environmental Public Health Tracking Program at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.  She is a Certified Health Education Specialist with a BS degree in Health Science from Truman State University and an MPH degree from UW-Madison. 

Jennifer Camponeschi, Program Manager, Wisconsin Environmental Public Health Tracking Program at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services
Jenny Camponeschi is the program manager for the Wisconsin Environmental Public Health Tracking Program at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and has been in this role for five years.  Prior to this, Jenny was an epidemiologist with the Diabetes Prevention and Control Program for over 11 years.  Jenny has a BS degree in Bacteriology and an MS degree in Population Health, both from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
