About the Position

Purpose of Position

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within 2 weeks of closing date.

Why does the job exist?

This position regulates, administers and facilitates permitting for food preparation and production facilities, onsite liquid waste installations and public pools and spas.The position ensures the continued protection of public health and ground water of New Mexico by proper inspections of food preparation and production facilities, onsite liquid waste installations and public pools and spas.

How does it get done?

Completing inspections for restaurants and institutional food service; septic system permitting, and swimming pool permitting and public baths. Findings from these inspections are investigated and remediated through technical plan reviews. Training is then provided to private industry related to on-site requirements and construction techniques required to meet the liquid waste regulations.

Who are the customers?

The general public and operators of restaurants, institutional food service, public swimming pools and spas.

Ideal Candidate

Bachelor's degree in Physical, Natural, or Environmental Science, Soil Science, or Engineering and two (2) years of experience in public/environmental health, environmental science, Air Quality Management, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Hazardous Waste Management, Wildlife Management, and/or Water Resources Substitutions Apply.
